Jade’s recording was made along with the other winners of the Foyle Young Poet of the Year 2018. Talking about the experience of winning the prize and making a recording for the Poetry Archive Jade said:

I’ve learnt to enjoy experimenting with poetic form, testing the limits of language and embracing its limitless potential. I’ve written poetry using the language of receipts, ‘A Receipt For Our Romance’, and produced film-poems which have been used to promote events on Jane AustenI’ve also written mathematical poems like ‘The Binomial Test’, calculating the real probability of heartbreak. Currently, I’m using legalese to detail a boundary dispute between trees.

I would wholeheartedly encourage budding poets to enter the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award, also the Young Poet Network challenges, and think it’s great to embrace the ‘risk-taking’ aspect to poetic exploration.

The Foyle Young Poets’ Recording took place on 23rd October 2018 at the Soundhouse Studio, Acton, West London.

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is sponsored by the Foyle Foundation and run by the Poetry Society. This Poetry Archive collection has been supported by Garfield Weston.
