Wilderness Howls

wilderness howls

when wind

carries the scent of

wildflower blaze

when trails of birds

thread gaudy air ribbons

between tree tangle

when water up-bubbles

to varnish earth in clear gleam

(rainbows where you’d least expect them)

when silky-shined rocks reveal lost paths

going dangerous spiky directions

when candy-coloured bugs feast inside

tiny leaf glints of sun shadow

it’s all true

the world re-enchants

when wilderness howls
